My bank account is crying

Just got my first pair of bifocals. (Progressives.)

OUCH!

Much pain in the wallet-area.

$700!

These had better be the best glasses I've ever had in my life!

Addendum: No; it's not because I chose expensive frames or any such silliness. The eye exam was $30. The frames were $130. The lenses were all the rest. *whimper*

*sympathy* Got my first pair of progressives last year, and even at Lenscrafters (less expensive than the private doc) they were $350 or so (and that's with discounts, and some insurance coverage).

I can't get my lenses at any of those cheaper places. I tried once, at a place I could get a discount at through work, and they looked at my prescription and told me they couldn't do it. It's too extreme and finicky. *sigh*

And I've no insurance for glasses, more's the pity. But the most I've ever paid for glasses before was a bit more than $400.

And again I say: ouch.
