Me: Incoherent mumble.

The Dog: Good, good, good! Because I have to Go Out! Have to! Have to! Very important! Very urgent!

Me: groan (stumble downstairs, put dog on chain)

The Dog: (trots to the corner of the porch and sits down)

Me: I thought you had Urgent Important Business out here!

The Dog: This is important! Very Important! Very! (settles into sphinx position, watching the world)

Me: (sigh)
